The Conquistadors, or spanish conquers, were the people who conquered the Americas.
They had guns and firepower far superior to that of the americas.
In 1550, the Spanish won control over Northern Mexico
In 1535, Queen Isabella affirmed the Native Americans and they were then known as Indios, which was the Spanish word for “inhabitants of the Indies.” Then she gave the
Spanish permission to use the Native Americans as workers. This was known as the encomienda.
The Native Americans were put to work on sugar plantations and gold and silver mines. The Spanish were assigned to protect the Native Americans, however, very few did.
During this time, because of being forced to work, starvation and diseases, the Natives were afraid. The diseases were the following, small pox, measles and typhus, many did not survived. By 1538, there were only 500 Native Americans who survived. The population in Mexico dropped severely. In 1519 there were 25 million people and by 1630 there were only 1 million remaining.
Near after the defeat, many natives were baptized under the Catholic missionaries. The missionaries brought parishes, schools and hospitals. The social and political structures of the Native Americans were torn and replaced with new European systems of religion, language, culture and government
The expedition of South America was led by Francisco Pizarro. After thirty years, South America, Central America and all the regions of Mexico were brought under the Spanish control.

One of the major reasons for exploration was of course, money.
Many people who had not been properly educated in common skills would take up exploration as a trade as it would supply them with the basic necessities to live and it could also prove very profitable and exhilarating in the long run.
Another large reason for desiring expansion was for the fame. Take Christopher Columbus for example, most everyone in the modern world knows the mans name and what he did. People love to be remembered and to have something that will live on as a part of them, even once they are dead. This could be the land that they discovered.
As peculiar as it sounds, many people would explore simply for the sake of being able to call themselves an explorer. Often times what would happen, men would leave home thinking "oh I'll just go discover a few countries and come back a rich man". Those same men usually wound up dead or marooned somewhere, and no one would ever know.
